Guest Speaker: Peter Carr
Peter Carr, a local Palisadian, will be discussing his art and artist process with us on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at the Palisades Branch Library from 6:00 pm -7:30pm.
Guest Speaker: Em Allyn
Em Allyn will be discussing the designation "artist" and how it challenges us. For example, when or in what context do we call ourselves artists as opposed to waiting for others to recognize us as such. Further the question of whether, once you either choose or are given the title or role of "artist" then everything you do becomes somehow a part of or enmeshed in your art? Further I'd like to examine and discuss how interest/aptitude in one field of art so often corresponds to an interest in and aptitude for other areas of expression.
Guest Speaker: Teresa Bernadette
Teresa Bernadette will present a selection of drawing, painting, and sculpture at an artist talk in the Palisades Branch Library. A multidisciplinary local artist, Teresa's work looks to the ancient, archaic, and arcane as tools of innovative storytelling. Experimenting across media, scale, and form, they wrestle with ephemerality, interrogating the bittersweetness of time and transformation.
Their work has appeared in local group shows and in publications. Four of their pieces will appear in the upcoming Screenland 5K tribute to Motion Picture Magic, Sun 5/10/24 in Culver City. The run will take place between Culver Blvd. and Washington Blvd. For more information click here.

Rosie Galanis’ work consists primarily of mixed media works, exploring the temporality of the human condition and the implications of the tropes of modern existence. Her work focuses on the relationship between internal and external worlds, emphasizing the inevitable aspects of existence. Her work consists primarily of organic materials. These materials in combination with transformative processes evoke bodily tissue like material, emotive and inherently human.
On view will be the series Torn, an exploration of the relationship between societal obligation and its widespread effect. Other selected mixed media works will also be on display. Rosie Galanis was born in Los Angeles, California. She grew up and currently lives in Pacific Palisades. Rosie is a member of the Pacific Palisades Art Association, having received numerous awards for her works in past juried exhibitions.
